COGNOSCENTI

Cognoscenti

The Cognoscenti, or Connocenti, depending on whether the Latin or Italian spelling--which means those in the know--, was introduced in 1950 as part of the "Latin Series". A large quantity of castings was ordered, but the model was not popular. Only 25 were built; a box of unused lugs was still in existence in the Southend shop in the 1980s. What happened to the unused lugs is not known. Only five Cognoscenti frames are confirmed to have survived. See Rare Models.

Many people find the design chunky, but if one looks at the cut-out space, rather than the 'crab claw' around it, the shape is rather pleasing.
